Our Linx Program works to identify street children who have been displaced or disconnected from their families and aims to reunite them.

The program also works with internally displaced people who may have lost contact with their family members during the 2007 post-election crisis which saw hundreds of thousands of people flee their homes due to widespread riots.

Working alongside a local case management team, you can be involved in:

- Helping to assess the child and their needs through counselling sessions

- Visiting the previous homes of the children to meet the family and assess whether the environment is suitable for the child’s return

- Participating in field work and preparing reports on findings

- Administrative work

Depending on the outcome of each case, the team may reunite the family or look into alternatives which include providing sustainable living, work and/or educational opportunities.

Volunteers should be aware that the outcome of this process is not always positive - on some occasions, families are unable to be found or unwilling to be reunited. Although this might prove emotionally difficult for you, you will be working closely with our locaal team who will always be on hand to provide support, advice and guidance.

This program has a four-week minimum duration to allow volunteers to work through a complete reconnecting process.

As with all our volunteer programs in Kenya, you will dedicate 1 day a week to one of our outreach programs. This means you will get to see some of our other projects such as the Women’s Rescue Centre, orphanages and HIV/AIDs program. This is the best way for us to make sure that our work is sustainable in the long-term.
